The Irish National Association was formed in Sydney on 27 July 1915 to encourage all aspects of Irish culture – the use of language, Irish music and dancing, literature and distinctive sports such as Gaelic Football.
The Irish National Association actively promotes Irish culture and interests through our support of activities at the Irish Cultural Centre and Gaelic Club and other locations in Sydney. You’ll find us at Level 1, 64 Devonshire Street, Surry Hills.
Ba mhaith linn aitheantas a thabhairt do thailte ársa na dtreabh Dharug agus Gundugurra don treabh Eora ar a bhfuil sibh uilig inniu ina seasamh: Tugann muid uilig omós do shean shinsir na dtreabh agus do bhundúchasaigh na talún a bhí ann fado, atá anois ar an saol, agus doibh siúd a bhéas ann sna todhchaí. Mar is iondúil tugann muid cuireadh o chroí do Bhundúchasaigh na tíre seo, idir chlann agus cairde,tír a baistíodh an t-ainm Australia uirthi le fíor ghairid i stair na tíre ársa seo.
We would like to acknowledge the ancient lands of the Dharug and Gundugurra tribes for the Eora tribe on which you are all standing today : We pay respect to the old ancestors of the tribes and the original inhabitants of the land who were there long ago, who are now alive, and those who will be there in the future. As usual we extend a heartfelt invitation here to the Indigenous people of this country, both family and friends, a country that was recently named Australia in the history of this ancient country.
